Yahoo provides keyword suggestions to its pay-per-click (PPC) advertising subscribers. (This is an adaptation of the Overture keyword tool that was acquired by Yahoo.) This tool helps PPC advertisers determine which keywords will be most useful in their online promotion campaigns.
Although Google dominates the search engine realm, Yahoo's keyword suggestion tool produces results that should be proportional to what people are searching for via Google. The results may vary, but Yahoo's keyword search tool is a good starting point for determining what keywords would be of most use.
As of this writing, a search on the keyword "translation" in Yahoo's Overture Keyword Suggestion Tool generated the following sampling of results.

The main factors to consider in terms of a web marketing strategy are:
Subjects (Topics):
Prime keywords identifying the product or service you have to offer need to be identified (office rentals, small office, mini-office, office space, admin services, rental prices, rental terms, rental agreement, etc.). Although there are core subjects that you want to encapsulate, no aspect of what you do is too trivial (see Content below).
Domain Name Relevance:
Keyword dominance begins with domain names (e.g. miniofficerentals.com and/or smallofficerentals.ca). In line with subjects/topics, keyword-specific domains (URLs) are invaluable. The more URLs you deploy over time, the better chance you have of showing up on the first three pages of search results.
Showing up on the first three pages of searches is critical; anywhere past that and your website may as well be invisible. In fact, between 62 and 75% of search engine users reportedly don’t scroll beyond the first page of results (read more...)
Geography:
The web has become so vast that people search locally. The places where your product or services are being offered should figure in some of your domain names if at all possible, e.g. ottawaminiofficerentals.com, ottawaofficerentals.com, ottawasmallofficerentals.com, etc.
On the subject of domains, dot-com URLs have been described as the “Beverly Hills” of domain names. It’s what people automatically type in when they are doing direct navigation. On the other hand, web users who restrict their searches to say, Canada by clicking the Canada radio button in their search engine window, generate results for dot-ca domains in priority sequence. (A lot of Canadians search like this.) The point is that you should cover both bases: your home country's internet country code (e.g. dot-usa) and dot-com.
Domain Tenure:
If you already have a website, don’t ditch your existing domain as search engines give search ranking priority to websites that have been around for a while. The search engines assume that an old domain equates to a business that has staying power. The key is to optimize your existing domain (see below).
Content - Content - Content:
There are two aspects to this. The Backend of your web pages (i.e. the html source code) and the Front End, namely the content that your visitors see. The search engines index both the backend and the front end. I won’t bore you with too much detail on this. For a glimpse at what I’m talking about with respect to the backend, see: Website Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Localization Basics.
With respect to the Front End, quantity and quality are important ingredients. No aspect of your business is too trivial. Search engines thrive on content. Once things are set up properly, an assistant can be trained to add and edit content, add pages, etc. Content is a big subject, too much so to review in any depth here.
Just to give you a bit of context, it’s no accident that searching on, say “typical website review quotation” will result in at least one of our websites showing up the first page of search results. And if you think that’s too esoteric, let me disabuse you. One of the first things I learned doing this type of work is that you have to set aside any and all assumptions you may have in terms of how web users perform searches. For instance, if you were in the small office rental business, a search on “questions to ask when renting an office” generates a potential of 936,000 results. Not a string of so-called longtail keywords that would spring to mind, isn't it? Yet clearly something that people are writing about and searching on.
Initial Promotion: Pay-per-Click (PPC) campaigns
I believe that search engines are quicker to index websites if they are promoted through online ad campaigns (also referred to as Sponsored Links or Pay-per-Click ads). The search engine service providers deny that this is the case but I have first hand experience that validates my belief. I've also noticed instances of search engines indexing sponsored ads and treating the link in the ad as a backlink.
I also read recently (and I believe this to be true) that the combination of an organic search result with a sponsored ad by the same company that show up on the same page will produce a higher click-through rate to your website(s). It boils down to marketplace credibility. It would appear that web users figure that someone whose website ranks well in organic searches and also pays for ads must be ‘on the up-and-up’. So PPC is something you almost have to do. It doesn’t require that you spend a lot of money on the ads themselves, but time devoted to setting up a campaign and occasional tweaking is de rigueur.
Website Look & Feel:
Looks matter somewhat to visitors but it’s not the prime consideration. (If looks were important, the craigslist websites would have no visitors.) Ease of use and speed in finding information is the key. That aside, full-featured, well-designed websites with a creative look about them can be had quite cheaply. We identified a resource that is based in Romania via E-Lance who can design a great website in under a week for about $225 US.
When it comes to design, the two most important elements of a website that should appear on EVERY page are: 1. A call to action (i.e. Call Now! or Free Consultation! or whatever) and 2. Contact Information (i.e. a phone number and an e-mail address, e.g. service[at-sign]wedotranslation.com).
Patience:
Ramping up, rolling out and populating say 5 or 6 websites and then getting them to show up in the first pages of searches would take anywhere from two to four months of effort for someone who is html-savvy and knows his/her way around PPC ad campaigns (two months with PPC and four months or more relying only on organic searches). Within one year, your sites should be generating a steady flow of traffic and, more importantly, a steady flow of calls to your business.
